I’ve featured this Egg Marketing Board’s campaign before, but that lad’s expression is definitely worth sharing.

I’ve just read the text. Aunt ‘Et’s mash sounds almost as revolting as her fried eggs.

It’s an old Lee and Herring joke, Martin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMYrlUC4JLI
And yes, I can’t say egg with mash sounds delicious, especially as it sounds like the mash hangs about in the oven for a while. Raw eggs have rather gone out of fashion since the salmonella scare, too.

Eggs on mash was a classic lunchtime anack about 1961. We sometimes used to have it for a mid day meal while sat, in The North, doing something daring with our lunch – like tuning in to the Midland Home Service. My mother thought we were being daringly impertinent by doing this – as if it were a private thing for Midland listeners only and we, as Northerners, were eavesdropping. They joys of Medium Wave Radio..

I mixed a raw egg in mash once as I read it was supposed to make it taste richer. Didn’t notice too much difference so haven’t bothered again.
Those eggs look huge!
