Are they suggesting someone would cook three meals a day, every day? Didn’t these people have sandwiches?

Chances are these were middle-class men writing the copy, of course. They would have lived in a world of cooked meals, I’ll wager.

I can understand what the Gas Board is trying to suggest by “High Speed Gas” as a slogan (gas hobs and ovens do get hot quicker than electric ones), but I’d imagine that this slogan would be challenged today by the electricity companies – IIRC, electricity travels at the speed of light or thereabouts, whilst gas is a tad more sluggish.
