Birthday Shoes

Woman's Realm: 18th March 1967

Yep, just a nostalgia-fest this afternoon, I'm afraid. I remember an Eighties variant of this measuring machine that was automatic. As it closed around my young foot, I remember not being at all sure about the whole idea.

We didn't get to see the automatic ones when we were kids - our local Clarks had the same contraption as on the advert there! ;-)

Just taken Elliot for his first foot measuring at Clarks, still old-school style there, except they take a photo of the first measuring and give it to you at the till, which is nice.

Aw, that's lovely. I've not seen the machine for quite some time, so I suspect they abandoned it for the traditional method, given that the machines were HUGE and probably provided no real benefit!

My first job after I left school was working in a Clarks shop.
We had the 'big machine', and loads of kids were scared shitless of putting their feet in it to have them measured!

I used to love getting my feet measured in the shops when I was little, it used to tickle when they slid the "toe measurer" down. special :)
