Moppets!

Woman's Realm: 7th October 1967

If you came from a working class background, like myself, then you'll probably recognise these. My grandmother had a Moppet painting, along with all matter of tasteless figurines, which I presume she picked up from ads just like these. Lovely.

We have two of these here. I believe hubby found them in situ when he moved in. I certainly hope so (he went to public school, he should be more cultured than to have bought them).

That doesn't, of course, explain why the frick he kept them. I keep intending to slip them into the wheelie bin. They're not, obviously, on display.

Either from ads like these or from Boots, if memory serves.

Ah, my nan probably got hers from Boots, in that case. A miserable small boy gazed out from hers. Even as a child, I scoffed inwardly at her lack of taste.

Also just wanted to say again how much I enjoy this site and that I'm often sending people over here via Google reader. Well done and keep up the good work!

Many thanks, it's really very rewarding when people enjoy my sarcasm! The Guardian have picked up on Gypsy Creams now as well! http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2010/jun/26/internet-gypsy-creams-r...

Oh my, I'd have had nightmares if we had these in the house when I was a kid! Don't they remind anyone of Chucky, a bit...?
