Ayds

Woman's Own: 10th August 1968

Yeah, you all know why this is here. I believe the modern version is called 'Adios'. And here's the old British TV ad, courtesy of TV Offal (clip 'may not be suitable for minors').

LOL - my favourite yet.

"how did a stout girl like me find a husband? Well he's German!"

... Fantastic.

It does seem to have some relation to yoga, yes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isometric_exercise

HAHAHAHA! Now renamed Adios, of course - can't think why. My Mum used to buy Ayds and I used to eat them all, they were like mint-flavoured fudge.

There's so much that's great there.

"SPOIL your appetite" - first time I've seen that written as a good thing.

"My father's people" - I am going to start saying that.

You would have thought they would have given her a bra and told her to stand in a more flattering pose considering the subject matter. But then again, I much prefer a bit of reality to today's ads that are photoshopped out of existence,

Yes, she doesn't look THAT great, does she? But as you say, at least she looks normal!

I assume 'Adios' is referring to waving goodbye to your unwanted flab. Did Ayds affect your appetite, Beelers?

No, it didn't affect my appetite in the least.
