Woman's Own / 20th June 1969
The makers of ‘FitFlop’ will HATE me; but their shoe is nothing new. Scholl got into the ‘exercise sandals’ game long before in 1969, as this ad proves. Groovy!

Those glasses are horrible. I used to love my scholls when I was younger. They were very comfy too.

Those glasses struck me as odd as well, but they’re quite of the era, I suppose!

Yeah but why is the pic even there… there’s no solid proof that the woman with the glasses is wearing any shoewear.

Maybe the glasses are the “groovy” element?

I think the woman with the glasses is supposed to look like a chemist.

My Mother (of three boys) was a dead shot with these damn things, she had a habit of whipping one off and throwing it at the nearest naughty boy, or more usually just the nearest boy! Believe me being whacked in the back of the head by one of these did have a tendency to slow you down a bit.

Oh god this sends shivers down my spine, ladys shoes you may ask why i am commenting on these. When i was a kid if i did anything wrong i got one of these accross my backside an it hurt. Mum use to have a few pairs of these, i remember the metal buckle well, from what i remember she had a pair that were red leather and a pair that were blue, the buckle was brass coloured,, OUCH.

I get everything about this ad, EXCEPT the woman with the huge round glasses and the knowing grin.
